Directions

We all doodle on paper but have you ever doodled on an egg? Crayola® Glitter Markers make plastic eggs shine with your creative spirit!

  1. What’s in a doodle? There is no wrong answer! Doodles can take you in any direction your mind wanders.

  2. Upcycle your plastic eggs with style! Take a plastic egg and some Crayola Glitter Markers. What inspires you today? Swirls, waves, dots or dashes? The flowers in your garden? A painting in your school? Start doodling!

  3. What color will you choose? The Glitter Marker palette has a variety of sparkly shades. Why use just one?

  4. Fill a whole basket with sparkly, doodle eggs. It will be an egg-cellent conversation starter!

Allow children to just get creative and color them in any way that they would like.

Crayola suggests filling an Easter basket full of these. I think that is a great start.  For us homeschoolers, I think we can take it a step further.

Here are my ideas:

1) Take a couple of strips of paper and using a sharpie, write one word on each strip and place inside the eggs.  Have the kids taking turns opening the eggs and then classifying each word as a noun, verb, or adjective.

2) Write out a couple of beginning sentences for the children to fill in.  Maybe something like “When I was five, I used to…..”, “My favorite day of the week is ………….”, “I enjoy spending time with my family when we……” or whatever you can think of.   Have each child take a turn to grab an egg and encourage the thought process.   You can use these as discussion starters or even as a topic for the day’s writing activity.

3) You could use the eggs to create math manipulatives.  Below, I created these using LEGOs from one of the larger sets.  Instead, you can use plastic eggs.

4) Using the Crayola glitter markers, you could create a sight world exercise such as this.  For older children, you could use larger words.  Another idea would be to bring language into it.  For example, write the English translation on one side of the plastic eggs and then the Spanish version on the other side.

5) Make a puzzle!  Use the Crayola glitter markers to create an intricate design on the plastic eggs, then unmatch them.  Have your child put the eggs back together and match them with the correct counterparts.

6) Create a matching game.   You can do this in several ways.  You can make pairs of smaller and larger sizes of the same animal and have the children to match those.  Or you could match smaller words like a rail and road to create more complex words like railroad.

The possibilities are endless.
