Apple Arcade is a brand new App Store feature announced at Apple’s annual September Keynote for the fall lineup. It’s one of the most kid-friendly game platforms that I’ve seen. Unlike most other platforms, with Apple Arcade, there are no ads during gameplay, which is a plus. One of the things that irk me with mobile and online games is the large number of suggestive ads that are built into the gameplay. Often, these ads are not kid-friendly at all and very sexually suggestive. Apple has cut all of that out, so parents don’t have to worry about. In addition, most of the games available have a user rating of just 4 years old! There are also several games available that the entire family can play.

Apple Arcade is currenly available on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. It will also be available on the Mac later in the fall. Games can also be played both online and offline, so you avoid data mishaps.
The following categories are available:
- Action
- Adventure
- Beginners
- Family
- Multiplayer
- Platformer

Each category has at least 6 games, though some games may appear in more than one category. Apple plans to release nearly one hundred games by the end of fall. How cool is that!

Hi! I’m Kat aka Mama Dot! Nice to meet you. I’m a homeschooling mom of three boys. By day, I run a mom’s blog (Being Mama Dot) and subscription service (Wombology). In my downtime, I create resources for families homeschooling children of color at Our Learning Curve. I love coffee, reggaeton (music in Spanish), knitting, and reading. My favorite thing to do is to feel my feet in the sand. #beachbum. Currently, I am an MA/Ph.D. student in Africana and Latin American studies. When I am not in school, I spend my days running my online business and taking care of my little ones. Make sure to check out OLC’s Instagram, Twitter, or join us over at Facebook.
